Gower Ministry Area Service

March 2, 2015

They say variety is the spice of life and variety there was when the Churches of Gower gathered together on a wet and windy Sunday 22nd February at Llangennith Church for the first Gower Ministry Area Service. The ancient and wonderful church of St Cenydd was nearly full and the singing raised the roof helped by the choir from Bishopston and during Communion Tim Ardouin Vicar of Llanrhidian and churches in Penclawdd led us in contemporary praise. Canon Joe Griffin preached an inspiring sermon on the future of ministry areas and the churches on Gower, and this was his last chance to preach to his old Deanery before he retires on the 3rd March. Joe had never preached at Llangennith so this was a first and last for him. All were encouraged by the chance to worship together and pray together and later to share fellowship in the hall together over a shared lunch. My thanks to all who came and also those who took part and handled the refreshments, a good start for what is hoped will be a twice yearly event around the churches of Gower.
