January 16, 2014For a number of years now the Farmers Union of Wales (FUW) have organised a breakfast in Farm Breakfast Week for two reasons. Firstly, to encourage people to eat a breakfast which impacts greatly on a healthy lifestyle and secondly to celebrate the best of Welsh food production. It also shows the wealth of gifts that God bestows on us on a daily basis. This year was no exception. On 14th January around forty-five guests, together with Assembly Members and Ministers gathered early in the morning at the Senedd in Cardiff Bay to enjoy a superb breakfast made up of some of the best food in Wales. The Minister for Natural Resources and Food, Alun Davies opened the proceedings following a welcome from FUW President Cymru, Emyr Jones. The Revd Richard Kirlew, National Lead on Rural Affairs for the Church in Wales was there to sample the feast and to network with those in farming and rurality. Richard said, “What a wonderful opportunity to gather and enjoy a breakfast, which is good for you and to engage with some of the farmers who produced the food. I would recommend this start to the day to anyone”.
