Fun and Fairtrade

March 6, 2014

St. John’s Gowerton boosted their sales of fairly-traded products when around fifty people (selflessly) marked the start of Fairtrade fortnight with a wine tasting evening. The event was organised by Roger and Barbara Harris who run a weekly Fairtrade stall in Church. It was a great success, enjoyed by parishioners and their friends. Fairtrade was promoted through film and in a talk given by the Revd. Helen Rees. The Vicar, the Revd. Ian Rees said, “It was good to combine a social event with important issues like justice, the rights of people everywhere – and God’s love for all.” The serious business of wine-tasting was pursued with diligence. There were eight different wines to study. Written tips on how to taste wine properly were followed – at least at first. Subsequently, it is suspected, people chose their favourite and stuck with it.
