Llandrindod School Mock Weddings
January 20, 2014A lot of detail and planning ensured the weddings of the year were successful with children being allocated special roles. Year 5 and 6 Children from Trefonen Church In Wales School, arranged and participated in two mock wedding ceremonies at Holy Trinity Church, Llandrindod Wells. There was a buzz of excitement and happy chatter as the wedding party arrived and found their places. However, when the bride started walking down the aisle a hush descended and the children who had been allocated different roles listened and participated in the ceremony. The mock weddings are part of the schools religious education syllabus with the aim of helping the children understand and participate in some of the special services which take place in a Christian Church. Last year a mock baptism was held.
“Children are growing in their knowledge of Jesus and by coming to church they witness a welcoming and positive experience” Revd Helen Rees, Diocesan Director of Education.Revd Helen Rees, who performed the ceremonies, believes these practical activities are important, she says “children are growing in their knowledge of Jesus and by coming to church they witness a welcoming and positive experience” The day ended with a reception which included a wedding cake back at the school.
