What is your happiest memory?
Choosing one memory is hard – so here are my two best ones:
The first would be Evensong in the depths of winter in Canterbury as an undergraduate, and the second, enjoying wine with friends in Tuscany.
How do you like to relax?
Cooking, reading, visiting historic monuments, concerts.
What are you reading at the moment?
Books by Patrick Gale
When has prayer been most important to you?
When I was in hospital for a prolonged time and discerning what to do next.
How does your faith shape your daily life?
The rhythm of the daily offices frames and feeds my faith and shapes my relationships with others
What would your top Desert Island Disc be?
Anything sung by Magdalen College Oxford’s choir under Bill Ives – especially the Psalms.
Share a favourite bit of the Bible with us:
John 4 – Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well. I love the way Jesus crosses boundaries in his interactions with her; it’s picked up beautifully in the Hymn, “I heard the voice of Jesus say, behold, I freely give the living water; thirsty one, stoop down and drink, and live."
How would you like to see your church making a difference?
By being more tolerant and inclusive.
